Why The Baths

I can count on one hand the number of rooms I've been in where women talked about pleasure like it was just...normal. Not a confession. Not a joke to soften first. Not something you bring up after the second glass of wine and immediately look around thinking: shit, can we actually talk about this?

Women are investing in therapy, in the gym, in serums that cost more than rent. And pleasure keeps getting quietly deprioritised. I don’t think it’s because we're not interested, I think it’s because the room hasn't existed yet.

So we're building it.

The Baths is a day-long event for women and femmes exploring pleasure, whether you're already confident in what you like, or you've never said it out loud to anyone.

It's not new, either. Women have always gathered like this. Bathhouses were where secrets got shared and shame got shed, long before anyone called it wellness. We're putting the room back.

OUR FOUNDER

Hi, I’m Laura (she/her). I grew up in religious communities, internalised sexual shame, and spent years quietly unlearning it. If I’m honest, I'm still in the process.

I know what it feels like to be curious but unsure where to begin. To wonder if everyone else somehow got a handbook. To want conversations about pleasure that feel thoughtful, warm and completely normal.

So I went looking for a room that reflected that.

Somewhere curious instead of intimidating. Warm instead of clinical. Playful without taking itself too seriously. A place where you didn't need to know all the right words before walking through the door.

I couldn't find the room I was looking for. So I'm building it.

The résumé bit, because it's a fair question: I've spent 15 years building communities and global events, including New York Comic-Con, PAX Australia, Star Wars Celebration and Oz Comic-Con. I'm also a SexTech School graduate and host a happy hour that brings together SexTech founders and sexologists.

If any of this feels familiar. I hope you’ll Meet me at The Baths.
